Shitō-ryū
Shitō-ryū (糸東流) is a form of karate that was founded in 1934 by Kenwa Mabuni (摩文仁 賢和, Mabuni Kenwa) in the early 20th century. The style emphasizes the use of both hard and soft techniques, as well as the integration of various techniques from other martial arts. Karate Shitō-ryū practitioners aim to develop a strong mind, body, and spirit through rigorous training and discipline. The style is known for its powerful strikes, fluid movements, and precise techniques. Shitō-ryū is a synthesis of the Okinawan Shuri-te and Naha-te schools of karate and today are considered one of the four main styles of art.
